Why the rush?

Related to country: Kenya

Developing countries a.k.a Third World Countries have always taken harsh criticism from developed countries for legislation and governance. I come from a country (Kenya) that is among the most highly taxed countries, but development has been slowly. But, it is not right for to impose decisons on us. We are recovering from colonization, though very slowly, but gradually, wiht exponential increase in corruption. However, if EKnya is to reach the Vision 2030 (mark you, we have 20 years), Kenyans need to change the themselves, so as to change the leadership of the country. "Change begins from an individual". As impatient as the developed countries are, TIA(This Is Africa), and life here, is slow. Rushing it will cause mayhem and economic instability.

Does it all end there?

Yes I have to say this (call me a show-off, or whatever), I will be graduating next year in Bachelor of Business Information Technology. Inshallah! My first degree (now you get the excitement)!
So far, it has been an overwhelming uphill journey (sigh!), but the amount of knowledge gained is immense. I ca look back and proudly affirm, "I have been molded anew, using the same old clay and some new clay added to make the difference".
But does the quest of knowledge end there?
Answer is NO! There is much more to learn It does not have to be in the books, but every experience I have as I go about my day-to-day activities.
The industry is becoming too dynamic to ignore studies. With reference to http://nces.ed.gov/fastfacts/display.asp?id=98,the growing numbers of degree granting institutions and people enrolling for higher education and other courses after their undergraduate degree and high school, it is deducible that higher education is forming a backbone to knowledge acquisition.
But again, does it all end there?
The answer remains the same, NO! Having acquired knowledge in a specific domain(fields) does not rule out the acquisition of knowledge in other domains(fields).
Enriching oneself with more knowledge could spur interests and opportunities that have passed and those to anticipate. It also enhances objectivity.
Why be objectivity and not subjective? Subjectivity could be seen as ignorance in issues in the environment. For example, I do not like politics. This does not mean I should not be aware of the political issues in my country because they affect me both directly or indirectly. I should therefore be aware of these issues hence objectivity. Objectivity heps one make informed decisions. The many different domains(fields) do converge at a point and do not exist in parallel.
To be learned does not mean to have many degrees, trophies, and certificates, but how objective you are.

JUST WHAT HAPPENED?

Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

“Peace, love and unity,
We preach about peace to the whole world,
We all want peace,
We all want love,
Peace, love and unity.”

"Oh, that song sounds familiar!" I thought to myself as I listened to some children sing on my way to school. "Now I remember! We used to sing that song when we were kids. Oh my God, that is like twelve-years ago!"
When I was seven years old, I would sing this song with my friends, screaming at the top of my voice. I did not understand what it meant then. Well, it was just a song with words I could pronounce and spell, whatever they meant… I did not give a hoot then!
Now I look back and realize how much weight they carry. This is actually what we all need in the world. The wars, the famines and the poverty! I wondered if those children really know and understand what they are saying. If they could nurture these three virtues at an early stage, it would be easier to change the world. By changing the world I do not mean “changing everyone in the world”, I mean “the person next to you.” This is how peace begins; one step at a time. If we are at peace with each other, then we can love. And if we can love, then we can unite.
I felt like I would sing along with them and reminisce, but instead I walked on and asked myself, “After I learnt what these words mean, what happened to the desire to want to have peace, to have love and to live in harmony and unity? What have I done to show that I want peace, love and unity?” May be I have or maybe I have not. I will let others judge! But if I have not, I am going to make it my mission to preach and exercise peace, love and unity! I will make the prayer of Saint Francis mine until I finally realize what I desire.
Now, having written this, I realize how time has moved fast and I am still me, doing nothing, and waiting for a hero. Just like my mother told me,”Do not go looking for a HERO, be one!” I am not going to live a mediocre life with an albatross (guilt of not contributing) around my neck, a name with no character, no euphony, no style!
Quote: “…and they say that a hero could save us I’m not gonna stand here and wait oh hold on to the wings of a hero watches the hope fly away” NICKLE BACK - hero

My Year.

Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

My Japanese teacher told me that in Japan, you can wish someone a "happy new year" until the 15th 0f January. So it is not too late to make my new year resolutions. It is also not late for you.

This year, I have decided
Smile no matter how thick things are,
To utilise my talents,
To be serious in and committed to my work,
To obey and respect others,
To understand and appreciate others,
To be honest with myself and others,
To trust myself and others
and above all,
To love my God, myself, my neighbour and my enemy.

What have you decided this year?

LIFE

Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

Oh how beautiful life is!
But,
some take it for granted,
others do not know what to do with it,
others take it from others.

But what is life to you?

Is it what makes you live?
Is it the chance given to you to fulfill your God-given destiny?

Life is like a passing wind.
It goes and never returns.
It is the reason we have now, later and never,
Today, tomorrow and yesterday,
The past, the present and the future.

Make your life beautiful!
